It appears the Canadian Government has declared a halt to the $1.3 billion sale of MacDonald, Detwiler, and Associates Space Technologies Division to the U.S.-based Alliant Techsystems.
The timing of the sale was interesting considering the US Navy shot down a malfunctioning SAR satellite in February. Perhaps MDA and ATK were attempting to capitalize on an untimely demise of a similar SAR satellite?
Considering the construction and launch of the RADARSAT-2 satellite was subsidized by Canadian taxpayers, it’s no surprise the deal was overruled by the Canadian Government.
