Here is a strange pattern cut into the trees on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I found it about a year ago while working on a NOAA CCAP project. We researched it and found out what it was, but I’m interested to know how other people interpret the pattern.

What the hell is that? Why would anyone cut trees that way?
Looks like a treasure map just like in the movie National Treasure .
