For the millions of people who are dying to know, its an image of Lake Wallen in the St. Gallen Province of Switzerland; the headquarters of Leica Geosystems.
I’ve been on the road that runs south of the lake and its one of the most scenic landscapes in the world. Here are some pictures that I took from a car in December 2007: photo1 & photo2 .

“Lake Wallen” sounds funny to this Swiss fellow. I would say “Walensee” in italics instead, or at least drop one “l.” But what a gorgeous lake indeed — the deep, teal-green color certain times of the day, especially when a summer thunderstorm is approaching, is unbelievable. I guess we have the deep granite bed of Walensee to thank for this marvelous phenomenon.
